Current Blazer Survivor Results

Since RSS feeds do not seem to notice when a post is updated I will post new posts periodically throughout Blazer Survivor to help keep you updated on the results.

So far John Nash and Derek Anderson have been sent packing with 78% and 93% of the vote respectively. Ruben Patterson got a 71% "bring him back". I would have to say I agree with these results, although, I still do not hold John Nash responsible for the demise of Blazer pride.....we will get to that on May 16th. Ruben should have been a 100% bring back.

Finally, the end. Blazers versus Lakers. *updated*

I cold not be happier that tonight is the last Blazer game of the season. I have grown very weary of it all. I wanted to report that Blazers finally agreed to let me out of my season ticket holder contract. It is a huge relief. This does not mean that I am not still a fan and that I will not attend games next season, I certainly will. In fact, if Steve Patterson leaves or is canned, I'd be more than happy to return as a full season ticket holder. This has been the worst season I have known as a Blazer fan. The idea of sports is that it is supposed to be enjoyable, win or lose. Being a Blazer fan brings only headaches at this point. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the losing. It is watching a man like Steve Patterson run this team into the ground that has turned me off completely.

My only sadness today revolves around Damon and Ruben. Tonight will likely be the final time I get to see them in Blazer uniforms. It is a shame too. I look at it this way. Both of these guys deserve better, MUCH better. I wouldn't expect them to want to continue playing for a team mired in so much chaos and mismanagement. I wish them well and thank them for all the effort they have given. Whatever teams they sign with will be very lucky to have them.

I hope that the Blazers can go out on a win, they deserve it. What better team to beat than the Lakers?

Will tonight be the end of Reef's tour of duty as well?

4/21/05 UPDATE: BLAZERS WIN! It was a great way to end the season. I am still very happy it is all over. Travis is certainly going to be a star. No doubt about it. I have posted pictures at PictureTalk. Kobe was booed the entire game, of course! We kept trying to remind him that Shaq was in the playoffs and he wasn't.

Miles High in Denver

Well, Dr. Darius showed us what he is capable of last night. Darius had a tremendous game. He scored 47 points and got stats in every column barring one, assists. (47 PTS, 12 RB, 4 ST, 5 BS)
He did this coming off the bench. He was impressive. It's a darn shame that all he has done is raise the bar of expectation on himself. The odds of him ever playing at this level on a consistent basis are slim to none. I hope he does because we are stuck with Miles for years to come. I won't hold my breath.

The Blazers had a chance to win the game but ran out of gas. I don't think it is any more than that. I wouldn't even blame the young guys because they too played well. Denver kicked it into gear and saved themselves from embarrassment. That is what play off teams do. I hated to see it but, well done Denver.

Kudos to Telfair on his assists.

Darius Miles, our latest headache. *updates*

I am growing weary of Darius Mile's attitude. In my opinion he is the first player that needs to be moved this summer. Problem is, who'd take him?
Get a load of his comments recorded in John Canzano's blog. (go back to last week)

Here is a sample:
"I'm still one of the most popular guys, whether they boo or cheer. Every billboard, on TV, the commercials. When you see those commercials, that's me. Everybody loves these commercials. Everybody loved the commercials when I first got here. So what's so different now..."

What is different Darius, is that we now see you for the punk that you really are. In case any of you missed it, Darius has proclaimed that "he ain't gonna change for nobody".

4/19 UPDATE: It seems that I am not alone. Check out these entries at the Blazer Blog.
Here is another.

Interim Blazers versus Utah Jazz

I am happy to report that the Blazers managed to beat Utah and avoid the one last chance to hit rock bottom. Getting beat by Utah in Utah was bad enough but it would have been over the top to have the Jazz beat the Blazers in Portland. It didn't happen and I am relieved. The Blazers played a good game and got a solid win over the Jazz. The Blazers have avoided being the worst team in the league. Ruben and Damon were fantastic. Management will be the ones hitting rock bottom if they allow these 2 guys to walk away. I posted pictures at Picture Talk.

Not going to say much other than to say I am glad Ruben decided to go and that he played.

Interim Blazers versus Dallas Mavericks?

You know, it isn't right to imply that these are games. A game implies competition. When you do not play your best players, you are not competing, therefore, there is no game.

So, with that said I guess I will just say that I have posted pictures from last night's meeting between the Portland Trailblazers and the Dallas Mavericks.

The pictures can be seen at Picture Talk.

When was the last time you saw 7 goaltends in one game against the same team?

Box Score

I am far too angry to blog about what current management has done to this franchise. I am trying to get information on my ticket contract and nobody at the Blazers will give me a straight answer as to what my options are. I have been asked to meetings and phone conferences but can not get a simple answer. I am very ticked and very sick and tired of it all.

My apologies...

I went to the Oregon Coast for a few days and was unable to have internet access! It was downright painful! I am home now and can resume blazer blogging. I did manage to sneak a peek at the New Orleans game and I saw a few minutes of the 4th qtr of the Spurs game. It looked like the same old same old to me.

I watched the Mavs beat up on Seattle last night and expect the same in Portland tonight. Perhaps they will be tired. Of course, they'd have to be asleep for the Blazers to beat them! I sure will be glad to see this season come to an end. I will post pictures from the game tonight or tomorrow AM.

Interim Blazers versus Sacramento Kings

The Blazers put a bit of a scare to the Kings but in the end...well, same old story. I can't tell you how badly I feel for the guys. I think management has really given them a raw deal. Some of us are thinking they have now been given a mandate to lose. You can get close, but don't you dare win and cost us a ping pong ball!

Theogate continues...

Does this sound like a reasonable explanation to you in regards to fining Theo Ratliff for not working out?

"...Patterson said players must adhere to the workout guidelines, regardless of their health.
"Anybody -- if they are injured, if they are in rehab, or if they are not -- they need to do what they are supposed to do," Patterson said..."
Source: Oregonlive.com

Is demanding that your injured players risk further injury by lifting weights smart business? Is Steve Patterson being reckless with Paul Allen's investments? Demanding workouts for HEALTHY players is reasonable. Demanding workouts for injured players is stupid. It is downright dangerous.

Hmmm, Mr. Patterson seemed perfectly willing to not force Theo to play while his bursitis flared up, but he is OK with deciding to levy a fine because Theo didn't lift weights during this time? Am I the only one that thinks this is absolutely insane?

Hey Steve, is this just a loophole you found that would allow you to muster up some cash for a franchise that has become desperate? I bet you are pretty steamed that all your little secrets keep getting revealed. I know, it's the media's fault. Of course.

Blazer management has truly lost their 'minds'.

It is being reported on local channels that the Blazers have fined Theo Ratliff 35 grand for not reporting to the Blazer training room. I know there are certain "rules" but come on, the man is injured and has bursitis! I guess they figure if he works out he will ruin his shoulder and then they can write him off. I am sick of these people. When asked about it Steve Patterson pulled his now typical "look, I'm not going to go into every detail of our business" (Paraphrase).

PLEASE PLEASE PAUL, GET RID OF STEVE PATTERSON and hire a man of integrity and COMMON SENSE! Better yet, SELL!

Interim Blazers versus Golden State Warriors

Almost. The Blazers almost got the win. If there weren't 20 turnovers, they would have. Still, it was a good game. Pictures are posted at Picture Talk for now. Damon Stoudamire got a triple double.

There is only one thing lower than getting beat by Utah and that is getting beat by Utah at home. Don't let it happen guys.

Interim Blazers versus Denver Nuggets

The Blazers just don't have enough to get over the hump. There were a lot of mistakes made in this game that really can't be attributed to "youth". In spite of the mistakes, the Blazers still had a shot at a win. The Nuggets simply turned up the volume and did what they needed to do. I think the game against Utah may be the last real chance of a win the Blazers will have this season. I hope I am wrong.

Interim Blazers versus Seattle Sonics

I have been busier lately and unable to post each game as they happen. I do like to at least have them on record. The Sonic game was actually a pretty good one for the Blazers. I think it showed weakness in Seattle. I will say right now that I do not expect Seattle to get passed round one.

Phil Jackson agrees to meeting with Paul Allen.

It seems that the Lakers, Cavs, and Knicks now have some competition in the Phil Jackson lottery. Everyone knows how much Phil loves the Northwest and what better way to lure him to Portland than to take him fishing? PJ has agreed to join PA on a fishing trip that will no doubt force Phil to see that his Zen nature would be much better served here than in the noise and clutter of New York or LA. In a stroke of genius, Paul Allen decided to spare Phil the constraints of suits and ties and stuffy offices and take the man where he longs to be.
The trip is planned for late April which should be a peek time to catch the biggest finest salmon there are. Be the fish Phil, be the fish. OK OK I fess up, April Fools!
