Good game, bad result

Well? I haven't heard any post game analysis but I was there. What I saw was a pretty well played, hard fought game by the Blazers. There were more missed shots than I'd like to see. All in all, it really didn't seem that bad. Travis was clearly "the man". I'll keep saying it, DO NOT TRADE TRAVIS!

Brandon is not the same player he was last year. I'm not saying he is doing a bad job, he just doesn't seem to have the pizazz he had last year. Is it a rookie wall? There is something about him that seems out of sync.

Aldridge=perfect. Steady and reliable.

JJ simply had a rough night. Sergio? I'm not so sure anymore.

Where was Jermaine? I had no idea he wouldn't be there. I suppose you all know by now, I haven't heard. I missed seeing him.

Nate. Stop trying to be the man behind the curtain! Pick a rotation and stick with it! Is Nate's unsettled rotation causing unsettled play?

I think I was a bit distracted tonight, in fact, I KNOW I was. I was being treated like royalty in the Lexus Club! Gee wiz, what a way to go! Thank you Dink for the tix, you are the bestest brother-in-law in the whole wide world!!! You are the best brother-in-law anyone could EVER have! You are awesome! What a great guy my brother-in-law is! (is it working?)

There's no place like home.

There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. If we keep saying it maybe it will come true. The Blazers had an absolutely terrible road trip. We can forgive them, after all, they ARE undefeated at home.

I'm worried.

Will they stay that way? Is it asking too much for the Blazers to win the next 4 home games? New Jersey, Sacramento, Orlando and Indiana are staring the Blazers in in the face. 3 of these teams are certainly beatable and 1 (Orlando) is as beatable as Detroit and Dallas were.

I fear a loss of confidence.

If the Blazers don't maintain a winning edge at home what will they have to hold on to for security? How long can we ride a 4 game winning streak? The guys seem to have fallen so far out of sync, they are playing scared. I hope coming home makes a difference. If all we do this season is win most of our home games we will still be a .500 team. That's not so bad all things considered. It's just not as much fun. One thing though, if the Blazers start focusing only at home, they may go on the road expecting to lose, that is not good either.

Give them a break.

Just a few days ago everyone was bragging on the Blazers and wanting to change their season wins predictions. They climbed in the power rankings. Today the finger pointing has begun. Who's to blame for this miserable road trip? Nate? The back court? Youth? Point guards? The bench? Losing is not fun for anyone.

This is the same team that beat Dallas and Detroit. They CAN play.

I think it's time for a reminder. This is a very young and inexperienced team. This road trip is part of the process. They KNOW what to do, they are having to learn how to maintain it. How many times have you started a diet and failed? You KNOW what to do. Eat less, move more. Simple concept. Why can't you do it consistently? I know there are many out there who can relate. The Blazers KNOW what to do, they just haven't mastered the art of consistency. Give them a break. So they are gaining a few pounds on this road trip, they just need some motivation. If they want to win bad enough, they'll find it.

Did you know?

I've been intrigued by the recently revealed "Make It Better" campaign. I like the concept. Along with volunteers, the Blazer organization is truly making an effort to "make it better". There is no promise of miracles, just a simple offer of effort. The simplicity is a beautiful thing. We all could take a cue from the Blazers and do this very thing on a daily basis.

I've contacted the Blazers to see about ways that fans outside the Portland area can help. Being a volunteer is great, but it's not so easy when you live elsewhere. I've suggested they sell their "make it better" lapel pins and use the funds towards their efforts. It seems to work for just about every other program out there, why not this one? Blazer fans wearing these pins can be a visible sign of a new era, a new sense of belonging, a way to pledge your citizenship to Rip City. Why not?

While taking a closer look at the program I learned that the Portland Trailblazers, to this day, are the ONLY sports franchise to have personally been awarded the "Points of Light" award. While other teams are partnered with other businesses and organizations that have received this award, the Blazers are the only individual team to earn the award on their own.

Did you know?

To think this has been going on behind the scenes since 1999 was a surprise to me. Clearly it got drowned in the flood of negative press we have been receiving for way too many years now. I'm glad the skies have parted and the rains have stopped. As the skies clear, the good the Blazers do is being revealed. Hopefully it will stay this way and soon the rest of the world will realize that those who continue to use the Jail Blazer references are fools. It simply doesn't apply anymore.

I'm proud to be a Blazer fan again. It feels good.

Ah well...

A win in Denver would really have been pushing it. Still, the guys seemed really wiped out. I guess this winning streak was a lot like a sugar high and there was bound to be a crash. The real test will be how well the Blazers rebound in Philly.

I'm still happy and still high on my Blazers!

I just posted my pictures from the Memphis game at PictureTalk. Check'em out.

Rip City Is Back!

Holy cow! Be honest, did any of you think that the Blazers would have wins against Dallas and Detroit? Don't forget they were always in the game in San Antonio right out of the gate.

This team deserves much credit. They've earned it. I want them to enjoy these wins. We all can celebrate their success. We are all tired of being beaten up for being Blazer fans. The team is tired of being overlooked. Heck, games that were scheduled to be broadcast nationwide were cancelled simply because we lost Oden. They may regret that move.

The Blazers are playing very good basketball on both ends of the court. It's early, but the NBA should take notice. Teams need to consider the Blazers an opponent to be feared. The Rose Garden is becoming a house of pain.

Of course it is very early and it is a long season, but the Blazers are off to fantastic start. Admit it, they are doing far better than expected, and that is reason for all Blazer fans to dust off those foam fingers and jerseys and join in the party. Rip City is back and it's time to enjoy being a Blazer fan again!

Will the adrenaline carry them to an even more unlikely win in Denver? At this point, I would not be surprised!
