UPDATE: CARTER TRADE, Nash says "they aren't as interested as we are"

According to the Blazer Blog and other message boards, the Toronto Raptors have placed a trade on the table:

Vince Carter and Jalen Rose for Shareef Abdur Rahim and Derek Anderson. The Blazer Blog also says that a third Blazer would have to be added to make it work.

I say DO IT! I have grown to really like SAR but it is no secret he is going to have to go. DA is too sporadic and injury prone. I like DA, but VC and Jalen will help this team and help them now. It's a bit of a spendy trade for Portland but there are other things to consider than contracts. Patterson and Nash need to put butts in seats and VC can do that. I think Vince could flourish here.

UPDATE: ESPN has picked it up. Blazer #3 is Vladimir Stepania.
(I like Vlade but to get VC and JR-I'd have to say yes).

"...The Raptors and Trail Blazers are discussing a blockbuster seven-player trade that would send Carter to Portland, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith has learned..." ESPN
UPDATE: It could happen! Well ok, Vince would have to talk to Larry Steele about it! Steve Largent let Jerry Rice resurrect #80, maybe Larry would let VC use 15.

11/19 UPDATE: Story from Toronto Sun.

11/22 UPDATE: Vince Carter says, "I don't want to dunk anymore," Sportsnet.com I still think coming to Portland will breathe new life into VC. I haven't heard any new news other than rumors of other teams making other offers. (source Toronto Sun)

12/2 UPDATE: According to the Portland Tribune and the Toronto Sun, Nash has confirmed that the teams have been talking. Nash also says that Toronto isn't as interested as we are in doing a deal. Personally, I 'd still love to get Vince Carter but Shareef has been playing outstanding. Still, if Nash plans to trade SAR regardless, then this is the trade I say we do. NOT JASON KIDD! FORGET IT!

12/3 UPDATE: According to Peter Vescey a deal is very possible and at any time, as long as it includes Jalen Rose: "...Again, the Raptors insist Rose be included. From what I'm told, the Blazers are seriously thinking about it, to the point of scouting Carter scrupulously against the Heat and the Magic. Sources say Babcock was asked a few days ago if he'd accept Derek Anderson's 3-year ($8.4M/$9M/$9.7M) pact along with Shareef ($14.6M) and Van Exel ($11.9M; next year's $12.8M isn't guaranteed) or Stoudamire ($12.5M) as part of the package..." 12/09 UPDATE: Hold the phone, Vince Carter is injured. This along with SAR's outstanding play may finally put this one to rest.
