Dwight Jaynes sides up with Darius Miles, disses coach Cheeks.*UDATED*
I am shocked to read that Dwight Jaynes supports Darius Miles in his abhorrent behavior towards Maurice Cheeks. I was stunned to see the very same sentiment spewed from Darius's mouth being spewed from Jaynes's pen. Dwight's attempt to twist events and spin them in Miles favor sickens me. This is a man who took great joy in ripping various Blazers apart for their bad behavior. Now he has turned on the coach. Hey Dwight, do you really think that anyone will support you in your attempt to make Mo out to be the person in the wrong? Do you really expect us to believe that none of this would have been public had Cheeks not said something? Hello? How many people were in the building at the time? Give me a break.
Here is what Dwight says:
The difference between all of those teams and the Portland Trail Blazers is that with the Blazers, it quickly becomes public. It shouldn’t, of course. Most teams operate under the philosophy that what goes on inside the family, stays there. That brings us to Maurice Cheeks, who is being portrayed in some quarters as something of a martyr. But how did news of his confrontation with Darius Miles get to the public? Quite obviously, Cheeks told the media about it. Why? Well, that’s where his last remaining bastion of support is in this town. Source:PortlandTribune
Contrary to what you seem to think, coach Cheeks has a lot of support in this town. In fact, he has our gratitude for holding this team above water in it's worst of times. He has our respect for sticking with it when nothing seemed to be changing. Maurice Cheeks is not super coach, but he certainly isn't deserving of being maligned by you! You of all people know that Cheeks hand's are tied in what he can and can't do. This was proven by Darius Mile's punishment. Mo wanted more. Miles deserved more. Nash said he'd support the coach's decision. He didn't and forced the punishment down to 2 games. Now here you are all over Mo for things that are simply out of his hands. Pathetic, simply pathetic. How in the world can you sit there and support a player that has done the very thing you have so loudly protested in the past?
I'm here to tell you Mr. Jaynes that I am solidly on Maurice Cheeks side on this one. I just wish Nash and Blazer management were too. I hope Darius gets a DNP for the next 8 games, fulfilling the deserved 10 game suspension that Mo wanted.
What's the matter Dwight, are you mad that Jason Quick and Canzano got the story before you did?
UPDATE: Have mercy, now local media are bickering! John Canzano strikes back at Dwight Jaynes and his "bi-weakly" paper in his blog. This is just too darn funny. I suppose it will help divert the focus from the team.
