Maurice Cheeks job secure, for now.

According to today's Oregonian talk about Mo Cheek's job being on the line is just that, talk. A loss tonight will mark the worst start in team history. Still, Patterson insists that firing coach Cheeks is not something they are thinking of doing. Maurice has had probably the worst coaching situation imaginable.

When he first came to Portland there were players in trouble with the law, the league, and with the fans. All that has subsided and the Blazers are now viewed in a much more positive light. The price for this has been losing. Why? I can't answer that. I think that is the biq question many are asking right now. Why can't this group of guys get it together? It's natural for people to start pointing at the coach. It is said that "players win games, coaches lose them". In a marketing oriented league, this is very true. In reality, basketall is a team sport. TEAMS win games, and TEAMS lose them.

I hope the Blazers are able to solve the mystery and get back to winning ball games. Wins heal just as time does. Slumps don't last forever. This one won't either. Believe it or not, the Blazers still have a shot at the playoffs, that magical place where anything can happen.

Hang in there guys.

GO BLAZERS!
