Blazers vs Raptors
It's payback time.
I hope the guys can pick themselves up by their sneaker laces and take care of business with the Raptors. I think being home will help. This is the 4th game of a 6 game road trip for Toronto. It will also be game 2 of a back to back.
In addition the Raptors will be coming off an 88-87 loss to Seattle. (thank you Antonio Daniels)The Blazer's last go 'round with Toronto was brutal and they ended up losing after being stung by a 3 by Vince Carter. Paul Pierce's stinger Wednesday may still linger in Blazer minds. The Blazer's haven't played since.
It was a very ugly road trip and I am sure the Blazers are happy to be home.
I am hoping to see a high spirited game. A win tommorrow is much needed!
UPDATE: Good grief! I can not believe we let a 20 point lead disappear in what seemed only minutes. It was terrible to watch! When it was down to the wire with 12+ seconds left, and we are up by 3, I'd love to know WHY DIDN'T WE FOUL THEM?
I hate this kind of game! We all stood there believing the Raptors had tied the game after getting THREE three attempts on the last possession! Quickly it became apparent that there was a question, the "oh man's" turned into "oh pleases"...of course they won't show the crowd the stinking replay....We all stared at Delaney watching the review. Mo Cheeks left the court. The Raptors were all pointing the way players do when they say the basket counts. The Blazers were waving their hands as if to say "safe" and "no basket". I don't think anyone really saw whether that red light was on or not but it sure got quiet when that ball went in. The crowd had been muzzled. It took about a minute-it seemed much longer, but finally Delaney's gesture matched that of the Blazers. The streamers came down and we all went home breathing a huge sigh of relief. Finally, we came out on the winning side of a "final seconds" battle. I do have one question-DARIUS MILES, WHERE ARE YOU?
Anyway, we got the win and that is great. I'll be happy to take it. I liked the hussle I saw most of the night, especially that of Derek Anderson. Zach was pretty great too. We lost a big lead but we all know these things happen. Think about it, at Boston we were the ones that devoured a 20 point lead and nearly won the game. The last time we battled Toronto, we pushed them to the limit and they got the big game winning shot. The other night the Cavs had a big comeback over Indiana.
This is basketball, anything can happen. No lead is big enough. This is the lesson I hope the Blazers take from this game. No lead is big enough to get content and lazy. Always fight as if you are behind-always.
